A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured on the afternoon of Tuesday 31 May after he was knocked off his bicycle on Amanda Avenue in Glenanda.
Paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg South branch arrived on the scene and found both the cyclist and his bicycle in the middle of the road, said ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring.
“A light motor vehicle had stopped off to the side of the road, roughly 10 metres away from the cyclist. On assessment of the cyclist, paramedics discovered that the man had sustained numerous injuries, leaving him in a critical condition,” said Meiring.
ER24 paramedics immediately began their treatment and initiated multiple advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patient was transported under advanced life support supervision to Baragwana Hospital for urgent treatment.
“The driver of the light motor vehicle was fortunate to escape injury. Local authorities were on scene to conduct an investigation,” noted Meiring.
