Happy Human Rights month
On Tuesday 21 March we will be commemorating Human Rights Day and celebrating on how far South Africa has progressed as a nation. Human Rights Day was officially declared a public holiday in 1994 following the inauguration of former late president Nelson Mandela. This national day-off is both a stark reminder of the tragic Sharpeville massacre and a celebration of South Africa’s constitution. The commemoration provides the country with an opportunity to reflect on progress made in the promotion and protection of human rights.
