The political instability in South Africa over the past week, led an experience bigger than any of us. On Friday, people all over South Africa marched in protest against our President. tame TIMES was there to cover the march in Johannesburg and it was, to say the least, a humbling experience. It was fantastic to see people of all different races, age groups, religious and political backgrounds, unite in a peaceful manner.
It doesn’t happen very often that South Africans unite in their diversity. So when it does happen, it is a very special time to be alive in our country. Even though the protest was against an extremely serious matter, it was fantastic to see how everyone stood together, walked together, danced together, prayed together.
Many people told me that it’s worthless and nothing will change. I choose to believe differently. I choose to believe that by standing together, our nation has the capability to do anything. Even if it doesn’t make the difference we want to see, it showed the outside world that we, as a nation, are willing to stand together.
I would like to thank everyone who shared their photos and videos with us. It is so difficult to choose which ones to publish. You can always check out more photos and videos on our Facebook page.
