On Saturday, 16 July, the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Sports Festival took place at the Elspark Sports Facility.

Nine rugby clubs participated and the hosts performed very well during the playoffs.

Chairman of the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club, Tyron Smuts, said that the purpose of the game is for each rugby club to have a fun day with many juniors playing from the ages of u/6 right up to u/18. “It is just a pre-season game and from here on we will continue to the various levels of leagues. We have leagues from the Lion sections as well as the Falcons. The purpose of the game is just to have a nice social game preparing for the league season staring in a few weeks’ time,’’ Smuts explained.

Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club is 64 years old and competes in the Falcons Rugby Union.

The club’s goal is to be one of the top clubs in the Falcons Rugby Union (Valke Rugby Unie).

Elsburg Eagles Youth Rugby Club was established in May 2010 and managed by the committee, catering for age groups u/6 to u/18.
