Mandla Ngwenya, founder of Rings and Bearings (PTY) LTD from Katlehong was awarded with a Premier’s Youth Service and Excellence Award by the Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, last week Saturday at a prestigious award ceremony held at St Georges Hotel, Centurion.

He was recognised for his good work that he is doing under the educational sector of empowering the youth and learners around the community of Ekurhuleni. He was awarded with a trophy, certificate and education voucher.

Ngwenya is an ex convict and through his company he is rendering spiritual talks, motivational talks for the youth and learners, youth empowerment seminars. He is also running the project, ‘Take a boy child to prison’ and the author of the novel ‘You are not an accident’.

“I feel humbled, motivated and inspired. This award gives me courage to work harder. I am also glad that my work is being recognised. I thank everyone who is supporting me on my work that l am doing,” said Ngwenya

He said last year he was contacted by the organisers of the awards requesting him for some documents and to complete the awards entry forms.  He said they also attended some of his motivational talks in Katlehong schools to assess his work.

“I do motivational talks at schools and for corporate companies. As an ex convict , l was sentenced for 15 years imprisonment for car hijacking and l served 7 years and l was released on  appeal.  I acquired motivational skills from prison and l am using my skills and experience to educate the learners and youth that crime does not pay. I am also motivating them to be able to stand on their own in order to attain their dreams,” he said

In addition he said, “For corporate companies, l am motivating the employees to value and respect their job as it gives them dignity, happiness and hope. I also encourage them to be productive at work and to align themselves with the vision of the company,” concluded Ngwenya.
