The man threw his ex-girlfriend out of his moving vehicle, a white bantam bakkie with a canopy and “cleaning service” company signage on, near to the N12 Southern Bypass on- and off-ramps on Kliprivier Drive around 11:00pm on Saturday 09 April.
The man then turned his vehicle around, drove over her and dragged her for roughly 150 metres before fleeing the scene.
In her late twenties, early thirties, the female passenger passed away from her injuries at 11:30pm. Emergency services Netcare 911, JMPD Accident Unit and SAPS were on scene.
Booysens SAPS took on the investigation and a case of murder was opened. The
suspect’s bakkie was later recovered in Eldorado Park.
According to Booysens SAPS Communication Official Warrant Officer Lorraine van Emmerik, the suspect was found dead after he hung himself in Eldorado Park. His body was found on Sunday 10 April.
It’s alleged that the couple had an argument prior to the incident. But this cannot be confirmed, noted WO van Emmerik.
Ruled as a murder-suicide, WO van Emmerik said that the case has now been closed due to the fact that it cannot be entered into court as the suspect is now deceased.
An inquest docket into the suspect’s suicide has been opened and Booysens SAPS now await the pathologist’s report. The motive of the murder is unknown.
