With all the horrible things that happened in the world last week, especially the attack in Nice, France, it is always refreshing when a little girl walks into the office with an idea so kind-hearted, you can’t help but feel hopeful about the future. Eight-year-old Zanelle Huyzers came to the tame TIMES office with her mom and grandmother to explain to me that after her gran brought her some new clothes, she was feeling so sorry for the children who never receive new things, as well as the people sleeping outside in the cold. She then decided to start a drive, inviting everyone from the community to fill a shoebox with anything from toiletries, clothing and toys, and donate it to a child at Look Forward Creativity Centre & Child’s Haven in South Hills. Look Forward is a centre for abandoned, abused and orphaned children.
There are still a few children in need of a sponsor:
Any donations can be dropped off at Crystal Powers, 10 Van Rensburg Street, Unit 1, Alberton North.
May everyone have a wonderful week and your hearts be warmed during this cold weather!
