On Monday 18 July we celebrated the birthday of the late former president of the Republic of South Africa Tata Nelson Mandela. It was one of the interesting days in the national calendar. Different stakeholders which includes; corporate companies, government departments, and small businesses were all over Kathorus assisting those who are underprivileged.
It was touching seeing needy people especially the children and elderly people filled with joy and love as they received gifts, and some had their places cleaned and painted. We would like to thank everyone who participated on Mandela Day; they managed to make a difference by changing lives. This week we published some of the Mandela Day events and those that were not published will be published on our next week edition. We are still on Mandela month and if you hosted an event and we were unable to cover your event please send us photos and a press release we will publish it.
Lastly, we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family of Gugu Zulu who died while climbing Kilimanjaro in Tanzania as part of the Trek4Mandela expedition. The last time l saw the late Zulu was in May this year at Winile Secondary School in Zonkizizwe. He was with the Trek4Mandela team handing out sanitary pads to the school girls. May his soul rest in peace.
