A tourist in Thailand escaped death after the bungee cord snapped during his 10-storey jump.
The 39-year old man from Hong Kong, visited Changthai Thappraya Adventure Park in Thailand, and decided to give the death-defying bungee jump a go.
Witnesses captured the moment the tourist plunged headfirst into the lake below, after his bungee cord snapped on video.
Speaking to CNN, the man identified only as Mike, said he had his eyes closed the entire jump, expecting to come to a stop with him hanging upside down over the lake.
Instead, Mike plummeted into the water from approximately 30.48 metres, sustaining injuries to his body, chest and lungs.
“I landed on my left side so the injuries were more serious there. It was as if someone just beat me up real bad.”
Mike shared that he wrote to the park complaining after the incident, as well as Thailand’s Tourism authority, claiming for the losses he and his friends suffered as a result of the incident.
However, the park informed him that he had signed a waiver prior to jumping, and the park paid for Mike to go to the hospital.
Mike said the plunge into the lake from that height knocked him unconscious, and he regained consciousness in the water.
The park claims there has not been any other incidents of the bungee cord snapping in 7-years.
