Good conviction received by members at Booysens detective branch
On 2018-08-15 at 18:00 the complainant was inside the shop in Turffontein with a friend, when they heard a noise outside. He went to check and the people who were standing outside told him that four unknown males with their faces covered took a colleague by force and they put him inside the red Toyota Yaris. Then the complainant went outside, just to see the car speed away.
The docket was given to Sergeant Zondi Maimela to investigate. 4 suspects were arrested and the docket was placed at the court. The docket was handed back to the investigation office to obtain all information and outstanding reports. During the years that the investigation took place, two of the suspect passed away in prison. The remain two suspect appeared in court and were found guilty as follows : –
Count 5 – kidnapping – 25 years imprisonment
Count 6 – extortion – 15 years imprisonment
Count 7 – assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm – 5 years imprisonment.
Both suspects will serve 40 years each in prison.
