Pit Bull victim laid to rest

The 8-year-old boy mauled by a Pit Bull in Bloemfontein in the Free State is being laid to rest in Mangaung on Friday 18 November 2022.

The 8-year-old school pupil, Olebogeng Mosime, was attacked and killed by their neighbour’s Pit Bull in Vista Park, Bloemfontein, last week Saturday.

The incident raised several eyebrows and the public was requested to hand over Pit Bulls and dogs that may be dangerous to society.

The funeral is currently taking place at the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church in Rocklands, Bloemfontein, attended by representatives of the police, SPCA, Provincial Department of Education, and Mangaung Metro Deputy Mayor.

The Deputy Principal at Roseview Primary, Thandeka Msiza, says the death of Mosime cuts deep through their hearts as they were celebrating their prizegiving the day before. The following day they were informed about his death and the incident broke their hearts.

“We are in the process of training ourselves to learn to live with this deep wound, to learn to live with this deep pain. [It cuts each and every one of our hearts at Roseview Primary School.] My heart is so heavy. This means that the hug that I normally receive from him, is gone,” Msiza said.
