Councillor Faeeza Chame would like to take the opportunity to wish learners well during their exams, not forgetting the hardworking educators for their patience during school hours spent with the learners.
“I also have a special message for our parents and guardians. The exams for your children have started. I know you are anxious for your child to excel. However, please remember there is an artist who does not need to understand maths. There is a sportsperson whose physical fitness is more important than their grade in physics. There is a musician whose chemistry marks will not matter.”
“It is great if your child gets top marks, but if he or she does not, please do not take away their self-confidence and their dignity from them. Tell them it is okay; it is just an exam. They are destined for much bigger things in life. Tell them no matter what they score you will still love them. One exam or low mark will not take away their dream or talent.” Said Chame
Councillor Faeeza Chame further said learners should not think that doctors and engineers are the only happy people in the world.
“To the learners: Exams are important, but they do not define you. Grades are also good, but they do not define you. There is so much more potential inside of you. Do not let other people’s metrics of success become yours.”
“Everyone is a genius but if you judge a fish by climbing a tree, it will spend its life thinking he is stupid. Remember, obstacles are frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” Said Chame
