Gauteng weather is likely to serve a wet New Year’s. The province’s weather service issued a threatening alert for Thursday 30 December.
The update described the forecast as ‘severe thunderstorms’ that could potentially deliver lighting and flooding, particularly in the Southern part of the province. The Southern Gauteng region of Gauteng includes the towns Walkerville, Meyerton, Heidelberg, Vereeniging, and Vanderbijlpark.
The inclement weather is expected to hit the area in the afternoon towards late evening, and with expected flooding, motor drivers may need to take care of all necessary driving plans before time.
“THE SA WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WARNING FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS!!!” the Gauteng Weather service warned.
According to the report, residents in the region should be on the lookout for what has been described as heavy rain, severe lighting, flooding, and small hail.
“POTENTIAL THREATS: HEAVY RAIN, FLOODING, LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMALL HAIL
AND EXCESSIVE LIGHTNING,” the Gauteng weather service said.
